實現

Windows 的 Qt Multimedia 特徵是以 2 個插件實現的。一個使用 Microsoft DirectShow API，另一個使用 WMF (Windows 媒體基礎) 框架。DirectShow API 在 Windows 98 引入，從 Windows XP 起逐漸棄用。在 Windows Vista 引入媒體基礎框架，作為 DirectShow 及其它多媒體 API 的置換。因此，僅 Windows Vista 及更高版本的操作係統纔支持 Qt 中的 WMF 插件。

環境變量 QT_MULTIMEDIA_PREFERRED_PLUGINS can be used to control the priority of the plugins. For example, setting it to "windowsmediafoundation" or "directshow" will cause the corresponding plugin to be the preferred one.

局限性

Qt 中的 WMF 插件目前不提供攝像頭後端。相反，DirectShow 插件提供有限攝像頭特徵支持。譬如：支持顯示取景器和捕獲靜止圖像的基本特徵，不管怎樣，未實現大多數攝像頭控件。

目前不支持視頻錄製。此外，DirectShow 插件不支持任何低級視頻功能，譬如：監視視頻幀播放或錄製使用 QVideoProbe 或相關類。
